Why Upgrade Your Insulation?
MONOLITH HOUSING
Insulation plays a crucial role in maintaining a comfortable and energy-efficient home. Poorly insulated walls, attics, or basements can cause up to 40% of heat loss, forcing your heating and cooling systems to work harder.
By upgrading your insulation, you can:
Significantly reduce your monthly energy bills
Improve indoor comfort and temperature balance
Prevent moisture, drafts, and condensation
Increase your home’s resale value
Combined with an EnerGuide Home Evaluation, you can pinpoint which areas need insulation most and qualify for the right rebates.
Available Rebates and Incentives in BC
Available Rebates
BC Hydro – Condo and Apartment Rebate Program
BC Hydro works in partnership with CleanBC to provide rebates for eligible insulation upgrades. Homeowners can receive combined provincial and utility rebates when upgrading insulation in multiple areas of the home.
You can also earn bonus rebates (up to $2,000) by completing multiple upgrades, such as combining insulation improvements with new windows or heating systems.
CleanBC Better Homes Rebates
CleanBC offers rebates of up to $5,500 for insulation upgrades as part of the Home Renovation Rebate Program. Eligible upgrades include attic, wall, floor, crawl space, and basement insulation.
Requirements:
Must upgrade insulation in an existing home (not new construction)
Work must meet minimum R-value improvements specified by the program
Installation must be done by a licensed contractor
Low-income households may qualify for 100% cost coverage under the Energy Savings Program, which includes insulation and other energy upgrades.
Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan
Through the Canada Greener Homes Initiative the federal government offers:
- Up to $5,000 grant for energy-efficient retrofits, including insulation
- Up to $40,000 interest-free loan, repayable over 10 years
These federal funds can be combined with provincial and BC Hydro programs for greater savings.
